Roof Photo Report privacy policy

1. Overview

Roof Photo Report is a professional, local-first Android application for creating organized photographic reports. It allows users to create projects, capture or import photographs, add captions and labels, follow guided inspection templates, create before-and-after pairings, annotate and crop images, generate PDF reports and evidence archives, and create user-controlled backups.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how that information is used and stored, when information may leave your device, and the choices available to you.

The central privacy principle of Roof Photo Report is:

Your project information and photographs remain on your device unless you deliberately export, back up, or share them.

Roof Photo Report does not require an account. The app does not contain advertising, analytics, behavioral tracking, profiling, or third-party crash-reporting SDKs. The developer does not operate a cloud service that receives your projects or photographs.

2. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

• The Roof Photo Report Android application
• The Roof Photo Report privacy-policy webpage
• Support communications sent to the developer

This policy does not control how independent applications or services handle information after you choose to share or store information with them. Examples include an email provider, messaging application, cloud-storage provider, file manager, or Google Play.

3. Information handled by the app

Project and property information

You may enter information including:

• Project name
• Property address
• Customer or reference name
• Inspection or work date
• Reference number
• Project notes
• Section names
• Skip reasons
• Saved customer or property information, if that functionality is available
• Other text you voluntarily enter

This information is stored locally in the app’s private database.

Photographs and image information

The app may handle:

• Photographs captured through the app
• Photographs selected through Android’s Photo Picker
• Derived thumbnails
• Captions
• Location labels
• Annotations
• Crop and rotation settings
• Before-and-after pairings
• Original filenames
• Image dimensions and file sizes
• Cryptographic file checksums
• Duplicate-detection fingerprints
• Locally calculated brightness and blur measurements
• Capture dates and location metadata contained in the source photograph

Original photographs are retained separately from non-destructive crop, rotation, annotation, and report settings.

Duplicate detection, brightness checks, blur checks, thumbnail creation, annotation rendering, and report generation are performed locally on the device. Photographs are not uploaded to the developer for analysis, and the app does not perform cloud-based AI damage diagnosis or facial recognition.

Guided-inspection information

The app may store:

• Inspection templates
• Template steps and guidance
• Required or optional status
• Recommended photo counts
• Completed or skipped status
• Skip reasons
• Current step and resume position
• Quick labels
• Custom templates and labels
• Report-inclusion preferences

This information is stored locally and may be included in a project bundle or backup you choose to create.

Company branding

You may enter or select:

• Company name
• Logo
• Business address
• Phone number
• Email address
• Website
• License number
• Report footer
• Branding colors

Branding information is stored locally and may appear in reports you generate.

App settings

The app stores settings such as:

• Theme preference
• GPS-tagging preference
• Report preferences
• Backup-folder selection
• Automatic-backup preference
• Last backup status
• Locally cached purchase-entitlement status

These settings remain on the device except when Android or Google Play must process a feature you invoke.

Diagnostic information

The app keeps a limited local diagnostic event log intended for troubleshooting. A diagnostic report may contain:

• App version
• Android version
• Device manufacturer and model
• Database schema version
• Number of active projects
• Available device-storage amount
• Purchase-entitlement status
• Whether Google Play Billing was reachable
• Whether a backup folder is configured
• Backup success or failure status
• Sanitized error codes
• Exception class names

Diagnostic reports are designed not to contain project names, customer names, property addresses, captions, GPS coordinates, photograph contents, absolute file paths, or signing credentials.

Diagnostic information is not automatically transmitted. It leaves the device only if you deliberately export and share a diagnostic report.

4. Information the developer collects

The Roof Photo Report app does not automatically transmit project data, photographs, location information, usage analytics, advertising identifiers, diagnostic reports, or device telemetry to the developer.

The developer may receive information in these limited circumstances:

Support communications

If you contact support, the developer may receive:

• Your email address
• Your name, if included
• The contents of your message
• Attachments you choose to provide
• App and device information you voluntarily provide
• A diagnostic report, only if you deliberately export and attach it

Support information is used to answer your request, troubleshoot problems, prevent abuse, and maintain appropriate business records.

Do not send customer photographs, property addresses, purchase credentials, passwords, signing keys, or other sensitive information unless it is necessary and you are authorized to share it.

Website hosting information

The privacy-policy website is intended not to use advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, or nonessential cookies.

The website’s hosting and network providers may automatically process limited technical information, such as:

• IP address
• Browser type
• Device type
• Request date and time
• Requested page
• Security and error logs

This information may be processed by the hosting provider for page delivery, reliability, abuse prevention, and security. It is not used by the developer for advertising or cross-site tracking.

5. Android permissions and system features

Camera

Camera permission is requested when you use the in-app camera.

The camera is used only to capture photographs for a project. The app does not activate the camera in the background.

You may deny camera permission and import existing photographs instead.

Location

Approximate or precise location permission may be requested when you enable GPS tagging.

If enabled and available, location may be recorded with a newly captured photograph. The app does not continuously track your location, create a travel history, or access location for advertising.

You may decline location permission or disable GPS tagging. Other core features will continue to work, but newly captured photographs will not receive app-recorded coordinates.

Imported photographs may already contain GPS metadata created by another camera or application. The app may read that metadata locally.

Internet

Internet access is used for Google Play Billing, including:

• Loading the localized lifetime-unlock price
• Starting a purchase
• Confirming purchase status
• Restoring a purchase
• Checking entitlement status

The app does not use its Internet permission to upload projects or photographs to the developer.

Photo and file selection

The app uses Android’s system Photo Picker and Storage Access Framework. These allow you to select specific photographs, files, or folders without granting the app unrestricted access to your entire photo library or filesystem.

Microphone

The current version of Roof Photo Report does not request microphone permission and does not record audio.

6. Photo metadata and location information

Photographs may contain metadata such as:

• Original capture date and time
• Camera or device information
• Original filename
• GPS coordinates

The app may store this information locally and display its source, such as:

• Original file metadata
• Recorded by the app
• Entered by the user
• Not available

Depending on your report settings, dates, location labels, or coordinates may appear in an exported PDF, archive, project bundle, or backup. Review reports and files before sharing them if location privacy is important.

Removing a visible location label does not necessarily remove metadata embedded in an original photograph.

7. How information may leave your device

Roof Photo Report does not automatically upload project data. Information may leave your device through actions you initiate.

Android share sheet

When you share a PDF, project bundle, archive, diagnostic report, or other file, the app gives that file to Android’s share sheet. You select the destination.

The selected destination may be operated by another company and governed by its own privacy policy. Roof Photo Report does not control the file after it is transferred.

User-selected backup folder

If you select a backup folder and enable or initiate backup, the app writes project bundles to that folder.

The folder may be:

• Local device storage
• Removable storage
• A folder exposed by a cloud-storage application
• Another location provided through Android’s Storage Access Framework

Roof Photo Report does not independently upload the backup to a cloud service. However, another application may sync the folder according to its own settings and privacy policy.

Project bundles and evidence archives

Exported project bundles and evidence archives may contain sensitive information, including photographs, addresses, customer names, notes, dates, labels, guided-inspection state, before-and-after pairings, checksums, and location information.

These files are not necessarily encrypted. Anyone who obtains access to an exported file may be able to view its contents. Store and transmit exported files appropriately.

Generated reports

PDF reports may contain:

• Photographs
• Captions
• Property or customer information
• Dates
• Location information
• Company branding
• Before-and-after pairings
• Project notes
• Quick labels

Review a report before sharing it.

8. Google Play Billing

Roof Photo Report uses Google Play Billing to offer the one-time lifetime_unlock purchase.

Google may process information necessary to provide the transaction, including Google account, device, payment, tax, fraud-prevention, and transaction information. Google’s handling of that information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy and applicable Google Play and Google Payments terms.

The app receives purchase and entitlement information needed to determine whether premium features are unlocked. The app does not receive or store your full payment-card number.

No project content, customer information, property information, photographs, captions, or location coordinates are included in the app’s billing requests.

9. Advertising, analytics, tracking, and automated profiling

Roof Photo Report does not include:

• Advertising
• Advertising identifiers
• Analytics SDKs
• Behavioral tracking
• Cross-app tracking
• Targeted advertising
• User profiling
• Third-party crash reporting
• Sale of personal information
• Sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising
• Cloud-based photo analysis
• Automated insurance, engineering, legal, or damage determinations

The app does not use project information to train artificial-intelligence models.

10. Data storage and security

Project data is stored in app-private Android storage. Android normally prevents unrelated applications from directly accessing this storage.

Additional safeguards include:

• HTTPS-only network configuration
• No cleartext network traffic
• No automatic cloud upload
• No broad storage permission
• User-controlled file and folder selection
• Validation of imported project bundles
• Protection against unsafe archive paths
• Archive size limits
• Checksum validation
• Temporary-file and atomic replacement patterns for important exports and backups
• Sanitized diagnostic logging

No system can guarantee absolute security. Device compromise, malware, unlocked-device access, insecure sharing destinations, or unprotected exported files may expose information.

The app does not apply its own password or encryption to exported PDFs, bundles, archives, or backups. Protect those files using appropriate device, storage, and transmission security.

Android’s automatic application-data backup is disabled for Roof Photo Report. Backups occur only through the app’s user-selected backup features.

11. Data retention

Active projects

Active project information and photographs remain on the device until you delete them, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app.

Trash

Projects moved to Trash may remain recoverable for up to 30 days. Trashed projects are then eligible for permanent automatic deletion. You may permanently delete them sooner from the Trash screen.

Templates, labels, branding, and settings

Custom templates, quick labels, branding, and settings remain until you delete or change them, clear application storage, or uninstall the app.

Built-in templates and labels may be restored or recreated by the app.

Temporary reports and diagnostic files

Temporary exports, reports, archives, and diagnostic files stored in the app’s cache may be removed automatically by the app or Android. Do not treat cached exports as permanent backups.

Exported files and backups

Files saved outside app-private storage remain until you or the application controlling that location deletes them. Uninstalling Roof Photo Report may not remove files saved to a user-selected folder or shared with another application.

Purchase information

A limited entitlement status may be cached locally. Google retains transaction information according to its own policies and legal obligations.

Support communications

Support messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, maintain business records, or satisfy legal obligations.

12. Your choices and controls

You can:

• Decline camera permission
• Decline location permission
• Disable GPS tagging
• Import photographs instead of taking them
• Choose whether available metadata appears in a report
• Review reports before sharing
• Choose whether to create a backup
• Choose the backup destination
• Revoke the app’s access to a selected folder through Android settings
• Export a project bundle
• Delete individual photographs
• Move a project to Trash
• Permanently delete a project
• Clear the app’s storage
• Uninstall the app

Because the developer does not maintain a cloud account or project database, the developer generally cannot access, correct, export, or delete the project information stored on your device. Those controls are provided inside the app and through Android.

To request access to or deletion of information you previously sent directly to support, contact support@ibuildappsforfun.org. The developer may need to verify the request and may retain information when required or permitted by law.

13. Legal privacy rights

Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide rights concerning personal information, including rights to:

• Request access
• Request correction
• Request deletion
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Obtain a portable copy
• Withdraw consent
• Appeal a denied privacy request
• Submit a complaint to a privacy or data-protection authority

Most project information is stored only on your device and is not available to the developer. Exercise local-data rights through the app’s export and deletion controls.

Roof Photo Report does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.

14. International processing

Google, the website host, email provider, or a sharing destination you select may process information in countries other than your own. Their processing is governed by their respective terms, privacy policies, and legal safeguards.

The developer does not operate a server that receives Roof Photo Report project data.

15. Children’s privacy

Roof Photo Report is a professional tool intended for roofing contractors, inspectors, repair professionals, and property-maintenance businesses. It is not directed to children under 13 or under the applicable age of digital consent in their jurisdiction.

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information directly to support, contact support@ibuildappsforfun.org.

16. Third-party applications and services

The app may interact with services or applications selected or installed by you, including:

• Google Play and Google Payments
• Camera and photo providers
• File managers
• Email applications
• Messaging applications
• Cloud-storage applications
• PDF viewers
• Android’s share sheet
• Storage Access Framework providers

These third parties operate independently. Review their privacy policies before sending information to them.

17. Business and legal disclosures

The developer may disclose information received through support or website operations when reasonably necessary to:

• Comply with applicable law or valid legal process
• Protect users, the public, or the developer from fraud, abuse, or security threats
• Enforce applicable terms
• Investigate technical or security incidents
• Complete a business transfer, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal requirements

This section does not create access to project information that remains only on your device.

18. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app, legal requirements, or business practices.

The updated policy will include a revised effective date. Material changes involving new collection or sharing of personal or sensitive information will be disclosed as required by applicable law and Google Play policy.

Previous versions may be retained for reference.
